Racial Diversity

America is a virtual kaleidoscope of racial groups, including Asians, blacks, Latinos, Native Americans.¹ With racial issues at the forefront in America today, it’s more vital than ever that all our children encounter different perspectives — books populated with honest portrayals of characters from every background. When children are able to read about people who are both similar and different to them, it helps both to dissolve stereotypes and to equip children with ways to respond to racism and stereotyping. DIVerse Families has compiled a selection of books featuring biracial and multiracial characters, and interracial families.
